So Long, Joe

Back in the day, Joe's Crab Shack used to be a place that the wife and I could enjoy a good seafood meal and get the veggies I need for my diet. Each table would get a fairly sizeable salad to split. Amelia would take a small portion, and I'd polish it off, and the best part was that the salad was part of the price of the meal. The meals we're a smidge pricey, but worth it since they came with the salad, at least in my book.

Well, we went to Joe's today expecting what we were used to, but our meals came without salad. When we asked, we were told that they no longer serve the large bowls of salad because it wasn't cost effective, but we could order a side salad for $0.99 with our meal. Too bad they didn't knock that $0.99 of the price of our meals.

So, no more Joe's. There's better fish out there for the price.

New Stuff!

Our friend, Xabu, was in the area and came over for dinner, so we tried something new (well at least for us)... salmon cakes! (Yes, Piglet, we ate at home for a change). Back to Basics

It's time to get back to basics. I hadn't weighed myself in several weeks, after weeks of being stuck at 189. I weighed myself this morning, and you can see the results to the left.

I think the change stems not from estimating portions incorrectly (though I'm sure I sometimes do), but rather from a change in eating patterns. I used to spread my "heavy" foods out through the day, lately I've been saving them until the end. I need to not do that anymore. So, it's back to the basics.

Also, I need to get my ass back into the gym.

Qdoba

Amy and I tried Qdoba today. If you have a Chipotle nearby, you'll be familiar with Qdoba fare. In fact, you'll be familiar enough that there's really no need to switch. The burrito I had was identical in size and composition to what I'd get at Chipotle. All in all, if you like Chipotle, there's no reason to switch. But if you have a Qdoba nearby and no Chipotle, it's worth a taste.

Good News

I've been meaning to note here that my doctor appointment and bloodwork results went well. My cholesterol still is very good, though the liver enzymes are still high. So, my cholesterol med has been halved, in hopes of correcting that little anomaly. But in addition, my blood pressure meds were changed, which I view as a good thing.

Fine Cuisine

Any long-time fan of this blog (are there any?) knows that I had a rather disappointing visit to my favorite ballpark last month. Well, today Xabu and I were going to catch another game, and I was looking at the grim prospect of dogs without onions. But, much to my joy, when I got to Akron, Piglet had prepared a hotdog feast, and Xabu made sure that I had all the onions I could want. Oh, the joy! It was the finest cuisine this Bald Guy could want :)
